EVENT – Beat Blood Cancer Challenge – October 26, 2019
Over the last 13 years of fundraising and championing for the cause I have been so blessed to have raised around $27,000 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through the LLS Firefighter Stair Climb. For five years I have served as an Ambassador to this amazing program where I’ve been a part of a team making this happen, but the time is here to KICK this up a notch and PUNCH blood cancer in the face!
After much thought leading up to the 2019 Firefighter Climb, I have decided that if I want to take my BATTLE to find CURES for blood cancer that I am going to need a larger driving force and a bigger fundraiser to make that happen. After speaking with my Sensei, Master Jacques Tarr, with his help, the help of our promoters, under the United Promoters Martial Arts Circuit I have decided to host the Inaugural “Beat Blood Cancer Challenge” to facilitate making that happen. Matching my fundraising drive, my push for cures, and my family involvement in martial arts we’re GOING BIGGER!
Looking around the gymnasium at our last competition I saw a room of people of all ages, from babies to our elders. A room full of children, full of people of all ages, all backgrounds, and knowing the statistics of blood cancer, I knew that the chances of someone in that very room battling something like Leukemia or Lymphoma was a possibility. The chance of someone in that very room being a caregiver or family member, or someone who had lost someone to a blood cancer was highly probable. Every 3 minutes we have someone diagnosed. Every 9 minutes we lose someone to these cancers…
If you’re available on October 26th, 2019 and looking for an event to compete in or spectate at and make a difference, come to this event in Central Ohio and help FIND CURES. I am attaching the flyer in this post. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through my fundraising for the annual LLS Firefighter Stair Climb.
